About Scouting
Scouting provides a safe, nurturing and fun environment for young boys and girls to learn and develop in. Through interaction with others and teamwork, Scouting develops leadership skills and self-confidence, as well as an appreciation of the outdoors.
Our Group was formed in July 1981 for youth wishing to be scouts but with an interest in aviation. The building we now meet in was completed in May 1992 and we have been scouting from this location since.
Scouting Activities
Throughout the year, Scouts Aotearoa provide a program for each section to follow which is aimed at getting each member through their section’s Award Scheme. Most meetings will be held at the den on the section’s allocated day, but there are some activities that require being away from the den. You will be notified when these have been organised.
Camps are a regular feature of scouting and are organised at various times throughout the year either as a section, whole group, or zone event. There will be an additional charge for these if your child attends.
Weekend day activities are also organized at various times throughout the year either as a section, whole group, or zone event, there may be an additional charge for these.
